Legend has it that Clover received its name during its early years, when excess water from a 5,000-gallon tank used for local steam engines spilled, resulting in the fertilization of a large clover patch. There must have been some four-leaf clovers in that original mishap, because Clover residents consider themselves lucky to have such a wonderful small community to raise families and find the perfect home.
Located in the northwest corner of York County, SC, Clover is a family-driven community that prides itself in being a wonderful place to live. Southern charm exudes from its residents who enjoy an array of amenities located within the town itself, and easy access to larger metropolitan areas like Charlotte, N.C. and Rock Hill, S.C. Recreational opportunities for Clover residents include the 325 miles of shoreline on Lake Wylie, which is only a few miles away, and many youth sports leagues.
To compliment local interest in athletics, Clover offers its own 22-acre sporting complex with various fields, walking trails and wooded areas. And since Clover was founded by Scotts-Irish immigrants, the Feis Chlobhair Festival celebrates its heritage during the second week of June. The festival is a popular destination for both residents and visitors, who can enjoy the sounds of bagpipes, the sight of many kilts and traditional games and foods.
Clover’s renowned school system and educational facilities continue to attract those looking to relocate. Clover students are competitive in academics, athletics and arts programs and enjoy a high graduation rate. Family’s have a wide variety of housing options that include homes in established neighborhoods and newly built homes. Real estate in Clover is very reasonably priced and is becoming a favorite option for those who work in larger urban areas nearby, but prefer a quieter place to call home.
