Rock Hill, SC Real Estate

Blending historic charm with incredible growth,  Rock Hill, SC is a vibrant city that encourages its diverse population to participate in the continuation of its prosperity. Located 20 miles south of Charlotte, NC and around 70 miles north of Columbia, SC on the 1-77 corridor, Rock Hill’s approximately 65,000 residents enjoy a city that offers both an exceptional way of life and incredible real estate opportunities in established neighborhoods with a wide variety of housing options.

Without a doubt at the heart of Rock Hill is its Gateway intersection, guarded by the symbolic Civitas, four 22 foot tall picturesque statues that individually represent the city’s admiration for its heritage and community spirit. These sculptures were commissioned by the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation to New York artist Audrey Flack in 1988 and completed in 1991. They are to represent 1. The gears of industry, 2. The flame of knowledge, 3. The stars of inspiration, and 4. The lightning bolt of energy. The inspiration of these Civitas was from Michelangelo’s “David”, which stands in Florence, Italy, which at the time was a town with a fading textile industry, living in the shadow of a larger and more popular city, Rome. Yet, at the time was on the verge of great achievement in the area of culture and the arts. The similarities of Rock Hill and Charlotte, NC to Florence and Rome are fascinating. Only time will tell whether Rock Hill flourishes with the artisan talents of its so called Italian sister city. There is a fifth Civitas statue placed within the rotunda in the City Hall.

Rock Hill has great temperatures year round for those who like to stay active. Balmy summers with average high temperatures in the mid to high eighties and mild winters with average highs in the 50’s, make Rock Hill a great place to spend time outdoors in all seasons. Rock Hill comes together for a variety of annual events, including the old-fashioned, four-day ChristmasVille celebration which includes historic tours, holiday foods, art, music, dance and singing by carolers. Spring is celebrated with the much-anticipated Come-See-Me Celebration in April with over sixty events including concerts, sports events, music, a beach dance, tailgating and fireworks. Throughout the year, residents find the downtown area of Rock Hill always has something planned to bring neighbors and friends together for a good time for everyone.

The City of Rock Hill has six themes in which it focuses for the future of the town. These are business, education, historic preservation, gardens and environment, arts and culture, and transportation and utilities. These are symbolized in the City of Rock Hill logo which depicts a Star with six arrows coming out of and back into the star, each traveling in the same direction, for the same purpose and in equal amounts. A synergistic symbol of which the residents can know that the city wishes to keep putting the town’s resources and energies back into the community, it was created and adopted in 1992. Rock Hill is business friendly welcoming new companies and those wanting to expand. The Rock Hill City staffers are easily approachable and willing to help people and business owners with their needs, and Rock Hill has reasonably low tax taxes on residents and business owners alike.
